Real Madrid have confirmed Santiago Solari has been appointed head coach on a permanent basis, signing a deal until 2021.

Solari had been in caretaker charge following the departure of Julen Lopetegui, who was sacked after just 14 games in the wake of the 5-1 defeat by Barcelona last month.

Solari, who stepped up from coaching the club's B team, 'Castilla', has since overseen four consecutive wins.

"The Board of Directors of Real Madrid CF, meeting today November 13, 2018, has agreed to the appointment of Santiago Solari as coach of the first team until June 30, 2021," Madrid stated on their official website.
