Everton are targeting Bayer Leverkusen left-back Wendell as a long-term successor to Leighton Baines, according to Sky sources.
Wendell, 24, made 30 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga side last season and is being looked at as a replacement for the 33-year-old Baines.
Everton are also interested in signing Hertha Berlin's Marvin Plattenhardt, who is currently at the World Cup with Germany and started in their defeat to Mexico.
Sky Sports News understands that Leicester have also made enquiries about Plattenhardt, who made 33 appearances last season, scoring once.
Watford were also interested in Plattenhardt but appear set to sign Bologna left-back Adam Masina.
