Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal have not received a bid from Marseille for Olivier Giroud, and that he does not want to sell the striker.
Sky sources understand the French club have made him their top transfer target and are willing to pay £20m for the 30-year-old striker in the summer window.
Marseille are understood to be confident of luring Giroud back to Ligue 1, where he previously played for Montpellier, despite the fact he signed a contract extension in January which keeps him tied to Arsenal until the summer of 2020.
"I have had no approach from Marseille and we want to keep Olivier Giroud at the club," said Wenger.
When asked if he was looking at transfer targets for the summer, Wenger said: "Yes, of course. I work until the last day of the season for the present and the future.
"Transfer targets are the future of the club and therefore they are very important. What happens with me is a bit secondary, what is important is the future of the club."
Arsenal host Leicester City on Wednesday night, a match which sees them line up against a player they wanted to sign in the 2016 summer transfer window, Jamie Vardy.
The Gunners triggered a £20m release clause in the striker's contract, whose goals had fired Leicester to the Premier League title, but the striker rejected the move while on international duty with England at Euro 2016.
"Some transfers are successful and some are not and you have to accept the decision of the player involved," said Wenger.
"I respect completely the decision he made and you move forward and onto other things.
"I don't think we could have done anything more. We did what we wanted to do.
"He (Vardy) would have been one of the strikers we would have had available and you can't guarantee that (he would have been our main striker) when you move to a big club."
