Pre- Enrolment Update Message for 2024/2025

Thanks to all the families who pre-enrolled before the deadline to help our school get ready for 2024–25!

We’re happy to let you know that, based on available space, all students who registered or pre-enrolled before March 22, 2024, have been accepted. We look forward to seeing your family in the fall!

Student Enrollment Update 2023-2024

** Please note, that D.S. Mackenzie School is full in planned classes in Grade 7, 8and 9 in the Regular program for the current (2023-2024) School Year. We will now only accept resident students in Grade 7, 8 and 9 who have newly moved into the school's attendance area. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enrol in another Division school with space in planned classes.

If you are registering for Kindergarten or if you are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you must register online.

Welcome Message from Mr. Fonseca

Welcome to the 2023/24 school year at D.S. Mackenzie School!

I’m excited to start this new school year and new journey with students, parents and staff. My
name is Fred Fonseca and I’m thrilled to be joining the D.S. Mackenize school community as
principal. I’ve been with the division for over 30 years in a variety of roles and am now looking
forward to meeting our new and returning D. S. MacKenzie students in the coming weeks!

My core beliefs focus around:
● Kids need three things every day at school - engagement, work that challenges them
and joy!
● Providing opportunities for students to explore, create, problem solve and collaborate.
● Ensuring high academic expectations for all students to achieve their greatest potential.
● Having a safe, caring, welcoming environment that will foster and support student
learning.
● Honouring diversity in our school community.
● A collective responsibility and team effort by all stakeholders - students, staff, parents
and community.
● Relationships matter and are at the heart of the work we do to help students become
successful and lead a life of fulfillment regardless of their career path.

At D.S. MacKenzie School, our practices reflect our commitment to our students’
academic, personal, and social development. We encourage our students to embrace
and accept responsibility for their learning and conduct in order to become the leaders
of tomorrow.

On behalf of the staff at D. S. MacKenzie, it is a privilege to welcome you to our school
community and we look forward to a year filled with personal growth and academic
success!

Warmest Regards,

Fred Fonseca
